Your first visit
What to expect
Your first visit to Jeff Thompson Orthodontics is always free. This initial consultation appointment should last at least an hour so you have the opportunity to meet our team, learn about our available orthodontic treatment options, receive a complete orthodontic exam and ask any and all questions you may have for us.

Simple and painless checkup
When you first walk into our office, one of our receptionists or patient coordinators will welcome you, ask you some questions and bring you through our office. Then, it’s time for some diagnostic work and your orthodontic exam.
First. will take a series of pictures of your teeth and then take a set of radiographic (X-ray) images or use our i-CAT® Cone Beam 3D imaging system to allow us to see what’s happening beneath the gum line, such as bone and joint positioning and the growth of teeth hidden beneath the gums. In some cases, we may also take an impression (mold) of your teeth either digitally or by using a putty mold that you or your child will briefly bite down on. This allows us to create an accurate model of your bite, which helps us identify any issues and the most effective treatment approach.
Creating your personalized treatment plan
Once your records and images have been created, Dr. Jeff will review them and conduct a thorough assessment, reviewing your teeth and asking about specific concerns you may have, such as jaw sounds when opening or closing the mouth or any challenges related to chewing or swallowing.
This allows Dr. Jeff to determine if everything looks great, or if orthodontic treatment is necessary. If Dr. Jeff determines that treatment is necessary, we’ll discuss details, including the total cost of orthodontic treatment, available payment options and whether to initiate treatment immediately or consider a later start. Especially for young children, we may recommend periodic check-ups until we determine the ideal starting point.
